Biography

Lauren Kundel is a native of Muscatine, Iowa. Growing up in a very musical family, she had the opportunity to choose whatever instrument she wanted. After attending a Bluegrass concert she knew immediately she wanted to play the bass. She started in fifth grade, and in high school, she attended the Dorian Music Festival as well as the Kennedy Honors Festival. She was a member of the Muscatine High School Chamber Orchestra, MHS Wind Ensemble, MHS Jazz Band, and principal of the Symphony Orchestra. Lauren was fortunate to be accepted into the Iowa All-State orchestra all four years, which fostered her love of playing in an orchestral setting. In the community, Lauren has played with the Muscatine Symphony orchestra, as well as in the pit for the New Era Dinner Theater. Lauren has had the opportunity to both rehearse and conduct the MHS Chamber Orchestra, as well as the Muscatine Middle School Orchestra Camp. While in college, Lauren has been a member of the symphony orchestra, and various bass ensembles. As a Music Education major, Lauren enjoys finding creative ways to help students develop good habits. She loves music and she wants to share that love of music with anyone who will listen. When away from her bass, Lauren enjoys participating in vocal ensembles, cycling, and spending time with friends and family.
